About the Doctors
James Turner, DVM
Dr. Jim Turner was born in Tyler, Texas. He grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School. After high school he attended Texas A&M University and received his Bachelors degrees in Animal Science and Veterinary Science. In 1988 he graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Turner first worked for Farrell Animal Hospital is 1980 as an assistant and continued working at Farrell during summers and holidays. In 1988, upon graduation from vet school, Dr. Turner returned to Farrell Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian. He worked with Dr. J.M. Farrell until 1990, at which time he purchased Farrell Animal Hospital. He served as president of the Tarrant County Veterinary Medical Association in 1993, and as state director for the Texas Veterinary Medical Association in 1994. Dr. Turner lives in Arlington with his wife Mary and their three children. The Turners have two cats- Hunter and Emmitt- and three dogs, Augie, Jenna ,and Dixie. In his spare time Dr. Turner enjoys music and coaching baseball.
Ashlie McBroom, DVM
Dr. Ashlie McBroom has returned to her hometown of Arlington where she was born and reared. After graduation from Arlington High School, she went on to attend Texas A&M University where she received a B.S. in Veterinary Science. After college, she proceeded on to the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated in 1999. Since graduation, Dr. McBroom has been a practicing veterinarian in Fort Worth. A recent family decision was made to return to her roots here in Arlington. Her Husband, Chad, of almost 8 years, is a teacher and coach at Pantego Christian Academy. The McBrooms have two wonderful children and two labs, Merle and Maggie. In Dr. McBroom's free time she enjoys scrapbooking, cooking, and going to the zoo with her children.
Robert Gaines, DVM
We are happy to welcome Dr. Gaines back to Farrell Animal Hospital! Dr. Gaines graduated from Louisiana State University in 2001 and moved to Arlington shortly afterward. He is married to Holly, his wife of five years, and together they have two beautiful children. He also has a very cool 11 year old golden retriever named Burger. Dr. Gaines brings with him considerable experience in surgery, including orthopedics. He also has experience and a special interest in advanced diagnostics such as ultrasound and echocardiography. He hopes to pursue further education and training in the advanced techniques of dentistry and endodontics as well. Welcome back, Dr. Gaines.
